How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga?
7 years

When/Where did you graduate from Bikram Yoga teacher training?
Los Angeles Spring 2012

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
Actually I didn’t’ think I was very good at yoga and so I didn’t think I was good enough to become a yoga teacher. But a fellow student said to me that’s exactly why I should teach because I would be able to relate so easily to the regular everyday student. At first I couldn’t figure out if he was giving me a back-handed compliment, was he saying my yoga practice was unremarkable? What-a-jerk! That sentiment took a long while to subside but when it finally did a few years later I sort-of realized what he must have meant. So many people out there think that this yoga is not for them because they might think they’re too inflexible or too over-weight or too unhealthy. I’m all those things and I do this yoga, and do it well in my opinion. Yoga is for everyone. As a teacher, I want to make sure that everyone who walks in the hot yoga room realizes that this yoga is for them no matter what their situation.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?
When someone has a breakthrough in class and afterward they try to thank you for it. Obviously, they did all the hard work themselves and I was simply there to witness it. But it sure is nice that they try to give you the credit for it anyway. Students are so nice, especially after class, they have the biggest smiles after class even the ones that were giving you the stink-eye during second set trikanasana just 45 minutes before, they have the biggest smiles of all after class.

What is your favorite quote?
You’re never too old, never too bad, never too late, and never too sick to start from scratch once again. – Bikram Choudhury

Is there anything else?
I love the yogas… a lot… maybe too much…
