How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga?
I started practicing Bikram yoga in March 2013. I fell in love after my 1st class. I have been lucky enough to further my practice by competing in the Texas Regional Yoga Championship that last 2 years. Through classes and competition, I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of achieving.
What made you decide to become a personal trainer?
I became a personal trainer in April of 2009. It is my passion to help others reach their fitness goals!! In 2003/2004 I lost 65 lbs with proper diet and a lot of walking/running. I decided I wanted to build muscle and tone up so I completed different fitness programs and reading a lot of literature. I love to share my journey with others and encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly.
How does core-strength work complement the Bikram series?
I was so excited when I found Bikram Yoga. I was running about 3 days a week and weight training 2-3 days a week. Running became hard on my knees and low back so I was looking for an alternative. Bikram gave me the cardio workout I was looking for along with the balance and flexibility my body really needed. Bikram is a practice that allows people to work out in a place of meditation and healing while pushing their muscles to increase strength. Both workouts together help to keep the body strong, flexible and balanced.
What is your favorite thing about teaching?
My favorite thing about teaching is when I see people realize how strong they are both physically and mentally.
