How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga?
In late 2000. I was immediately hooked.
When/Where did you graduate from Bikram Yoga teacher training?
I graduated from teacher training in the fall of 2001 in Los Angeles at HQ. I left for training 10 days after 9/11. It was a very scary time, we didn’t even know if airlines would be flying or if our nation was secure. It was powerful to see hundreds of trainees show up from around the world in spite of the fear and uncertainty.
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
Within the first few classes I knew I wanted to become a teacher. At the time I was working in the corporate world, traveling nearly every week, exhausted and not focusing on my health. I quickly realized how much I needed the yoga, physically and mentally. I knew I wanted to help other road warriors like me. I’ve repeated the back-to-corporate-chaos, back-to-yoga-healing pattern a few times since then, but recently made big changes so this yoga can be part of my life for good.
What is your favorite thing about teaching?
Watching transformation happen on a daily basis. It’s the most inspiring role I’ve had. I also love the community of yogi’s at BYNT. They are so supportive and encouraging. It’s a family.
